Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Thimblehall Detailing handles personal information, and what this website does and does not collect.

Who we are

Thimblehall Detailing is a car valeting and detailing business run by Max Henderson, based at 4 Cherry Tree Close, Wigton, CA7 9BY, Cumbria, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

For any privacy question or request, call or text 07365 266554, or write to us at the address above.

The quote form on this website

The quote form does not send anything to us over the internet and this website does not store what you type into it. When you press “Send Quote Request”, your own phone opens a pre-filled text message addressed to 07365 266554. Nothing is sent until you choose to send that message yourself.

This means the details you enter stay on your device until you send them, and they then reach us as an ordinary text message through your mobile network provider.

Information we hold about customers

When you contact us by phone, text, or social media, or when you have work done, we may record:

  • Your name
  • Your telephone number, and an email address if you give us one
  • Vehicle details such as registration, make, model, colour and size
  • Job details: the service booked, the date and time, the price charged and whether it has been paid
  • Notes about the work or your preferences

These records are kept in a private admin area of this website that only Max can sign in to. They are not published anywhere on the public site.

Photographs and reviews

Photographs of completed work and customer reviews shown in the Portfolio and Reviews sections are published by us. We do not publish a customer’s registration plate or contact details, and we will remove any photo or review on request.

Technical information

This website does not use analytics, advertising, or visitor-tracking tools. Our hosting provider processes standard technical information needed to deliver the site securely, such as your IP address and browser type, in its server logs.

If you allow the optional Google Maps embed on the Contact page, Google receives your IP address and device information as part of loading that map. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Why we use your information, and our lawful bases

  • To reply to enquiries and give quotes — legitimate interests, or steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
  • To arrange, carry out and keep a record of work — performance of our contract with you.
  • To send you a booking confirmation, a reminder or a thank-you message by text — legitimate interests in running the job properly.
  • To keep records of payments received — legal obligation, including tax and accounting duties.
  • To keep this website secure and working — legitimate interests.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your information. We share it only where necessary:

  • Our website and database hosting providers, who store the private customer records on our behalf.
  • Your and our mobile network providers, when we exchange text messages or calls.
  • Google, if you choose to load the optional map, or when your browser requests the fonts used on this site.
  • Our accountant, and HMRC or other authorities, where the law requires it.

International transfers

Some of the providers we use operate servers outside the UK. Where information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on our providers’ safeguards for such transfers, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept only as long as we may reasonably need them, and then deleted. Customer and job records are kept while you remain a customer and for six years after the last job, to meet tax and accounting requirements. Photographs used in our portfolio are kept until we no longer use them or you ask us to remove them.

Security

The private admin area is protected by a password-secured account and access controls that restrict records to the business owner. Connections to this website are encrypted. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Ask us to restrict how we use your information, or object to our use of it
  • Ask us to transfer certain information to you or another provider
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on it, such as the optional map cookies

To make a request, call or text 07365 266554 or write to us at the address above. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

We may update this policy when our practices or this website change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
